Privacy Policy

EFFECTIVE 18 AUGUST 2026

SPECTRUM is a news aggregator. It collects publicly available headlines from independent news outlets and links you to the original articles on those outlets' own websites. This policy explains what limited information the service handles.

The short version

Information handled

Stored in your browser

SPECTRUM uses your browser's local storage to remember your chosen theme (light or dark), your default political view, and any source-lean adjustments you make. This data stays on your device, is not transmitted to any server, and can be cleared at any time from your browser settings.

Server logs

If you access a hosted deployment (for example on Cloudflare), the hosting provider may automatically record standard technical request data — such as IP address, timestamp, and user agent — for security, abuse prevention, and reliability. SPECTRUM itself does not build profiles from this data.

Cookies & analytics

SPECTRUM sets no advertising or tracking cookies. The default build includes no third-party analytics. If an operator of a deployment adds analytics, that will be disclosed in this policy for that deployment.

Third-party outlets

Headlines link to third-party publishers. When you follow a link, the destination site may set its own cookies and collect its own data under its own privacy policy. SPECTRUM does not control and is not responsible for those sites, and does not share any information with them.

Data sharing & sale

We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information. Because the service does not collect personal information, there is nothing of that kind to share.

Children

SPECTRUM is a general-audience news product and is not directed to children under 13.

Changes

This policy may be updated from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by a new effective date above.

Contact

Questions about privacy can be directed to the operator of your SPECTRUM deployment.
